What would BG do?

How do you guys think we would've fared this year if we still had that coach we used to have?  The Big 12 is a lot tougher this year it seems.  Even with losing Acie do you think we could've competed for the title?  Still been a top ten team?  I don't know.  I'm going to take the high road and say we would've been better but not necessary equal to last year.  Acie was a leader on this team, and now it seems like there is no leader.  Also, there is no real PG and Acie was that too.   There's a lot of talent though.  How would we have done (probably better to evaluate this after march but, oh well)

don't like that question
b/c I hate that Turge has to live in this shadow. It isn't fair to him, but he knew what he was getting into when he signed on. So keep in mind, that my answer has nothing to do with Turge's level or style of coaching. Simply thinking of BCG with this team, first instinct answers:
I think that we go undefeated in non-conference play. I think that we still lose to KSU on the road, b/c Walker and Beasley were that good (IMO). I think that we play the same against tu at home. I think that we lose to Bob Knight's team in Lubbock, BCG never got a lot out there. I think we beat Nebraska and OSU at home. We beat Baylor in that 5 OT game, in regulation (Billy hated Drew). We lose to tu on the road. We lose a close one to KU at home. I think we enter the tourney as a 3 seed again, and don't make it past the sweet 16.
Our bigs would be better under BCG. Our defense would be as it was last year. I think Josh would have better stats due to the offense we ran. Hard to say if Sloan would be a lot better, but I know for sure that if he played as sloppy as he has at times for BCG, he would find himself on the pine.

The main reason for seeing us as better under BCG is really just the familiarity of his system. I know that Turge can't use that excuse any more, b/c the season is almost over, but a set system, work out program etc would obviously help. Plus I think that leadership would be more forthcoming if the veterans knew what to expect. You have to remember that the veterans are in their first year with Turge just like the freshmen.

Those are my thoughts. Probably not worth their weight in silver, but there they are.

agree
I didn't mean that question to be, "as opposed to turgeon".  I agree and assume everyone understands that I'm mainly talking about the familiarity of his system.  I told my friends a couple of days ago; turgeon could possibly be a better coach than billy, but we won't know until he gets his guys recruited or at least trained to play under his system/style, and that just takes more than one year.

gosh....I wonder this a lot
I think we are the 3rd place team in the conference. We for sure beat Arizona on the road, and don't think we lose to OSU, NU at home to say the least. It's hard b/c we will never know how much losing Acie would affect it, but I do wonder...

Better in the Short Run
We would have been better this year under BCG.  He built this team specifically to play his style of defense and his hi/lo offense.  Our three post players on offense combined with Sloan's and Kirk's ability to pressure opposing guards would have been an excellent combination.  We probably would have finished near the top along with Texas and Kansas.  Also, we would probably be a top four seed in the NCAA tournament.

However, the real question is how good would we be five years from now with Turgeon v. how good would be five years from now with BCG?  The short run we are better with BCG becuase of the personnel on the team.  I am interested to see what Turgeon can do with his own players in his own system.  It should be interesting.
