You Are A Class Act

As a lifelong Bruin,  now living in Houston, I want to say here what I've been saying on Bruins Nation, our blog spot.

You Aggies represent what is best in college sports. You are a class group of people, both on campus and on the ball field.

When I saw you were in our bracket, I wrote that I thought you were going to be our toughest challenge in the regional. You proved me right.

You play the way we do -- tough. You never give up. Neither do we.

When I moved to Texas, I knew little about A&M. I had met RC Slocum at Rodeo, many years ago, and thought he was a stand up guy. We had just beaten you with a comeback victory in a bowl game; he praised UCLA and Cade McKnown. I thought that was classy.

For the past 4 years I've spent a week on your campus at the Texas School of Professional Photography.

Here's what I like about all of you:

You are the most courteous and helpful young people I've met on a campus.

You have a deep sense of tradition and ritual. I love your reverence for your history and respect for your roots.

You are some of the most passionate fans in the entire sports world. I love the fact that you are behind your team, win or lose. I love that you stand at games and make noise.

And, I love the fact that you don't whine, in defeat.

You have handled the "no call" in your game with us, with class. You seem to understand that one call does not make a game -- that there were bad calls throughout the game, and that games are won and lost on plays, not calls. It would be easy for you to whine -- others are, but on this site I've seen nothing but class.

I have the deepest respect for the way you played us.

And, I just wanted you to know that.

PS. So do the others who write on Bruins Nation. You will see nothing but respect for you, there.

PPS. I love the "taco meat" commercial. Many people who don't live in Texas won't understand it. But, I do and it is perfect.
