What November Momentum?
Texas A&M football coach Dennis Franchione's record is dismal. Again it looks like a total washout for November!
November momentum!
What in the name of Leon Spinks is momentum in November? Texas A&M University head football coach Dennis Franchione has all but buried all memories of November momentum at College Station.
In five seasons, Fran has only four games in November. This year instead of talk about momentum, the Aggies hear about NCAA violations, personnel firing, self-imposed sanctions, bad game day decisions, insane schemes, under utilized halfbacks, wasted fullbacks, and coaching buyouts.
Wow! How can the Aggies play with all these distractions?
Meanwhile, Missouri (8-1, 4-1 Big 12) has no such distractions. They are talking about November momentum. They are 5-0 at home. Last week, the Tigers beat Colorado 55-10. In one stretch the Tigers scored 48 unanswered points.
The Associated Press reports that the game is expected to be a laugher! I don't think the Aggies will be on the laughing end of this game. Another blowout defeat will push up the rancor and clamor for a coaching change at Texas A&M.
The Aggies (6-4, 3-3 Big 12) imploded last Saturday in Norman, Oklahoma, against the Sooners. The score was 42-14. The Aggies' scores came in the fourth quarter.

This blogger waited impatiently Wednesday for the Aggie AD Bill Byrne to post his blog. When it came, I clicked on the link and excited waited for the page to load. I wanted to hear about football ... the OU game ... the Missouri game.... Hey! It's football season... isn't it? You couldn't tell from Mr. Byrne's blog.
Is football season over in the athletic director's office? Perhaps Mr. Byrne wishes it would end. Maybe he believes that if he does not think about it ....
Brent Zwerneman of the San Antonio Express-News give Aggies something to ponder. (LINK)
Zwerneman's article, headlined Where did Fran Fail, recounts the last five sorry years of Aggie football and what happened. It's worth reading.
Zwerneman if you remember broke the story about the VIP Connection e-mail newsletter that led to head football coach Dennis Franchione's admonishment and the firing of his faithful personal sidekick and publicist Mike McKenzie. All this left the program possibly facing secondary NCAA sanctions. The program has sanctioned itself by limited certain recruiting contacts.
Meanwhile, the season goes on. The Big 12 Conference still has not decided a champion, despite the silence that SCREAMS inside the athletic director's blog.
One of the teams very much in the running for the Big 12 championship is the seventh ranked Missouri Tigers. It will be Texas A&M's worthy opponent this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CST in Columbia, Missouri.
The Tigers -- sixth in the BCS -- are led by Texan Chase Daniel, a quarterback whose passing offense is 2nd in the Big 12 and 5th in the NCAA. (LINK)
The Missouri aerial game will go against Fran's pass efficiency defense that is ranked 10th in the Big 12 and 93rd in the NCAA. (LINK)
Given Fran's sorry effort against Oklahoma, Missouri is expected to light up the scoreboard against Fran's hapless Aggies. The Sooners lofted five TD passes on the way to a victory.
In the last two games against ranked opponents, Fran's running game has only netted 166 yards total in the first three quarters. Fran passed 33 times in the first three quarters of those games. He completed only 16 passes for 71 yards.
Missouri's defensive coordinator promises to be more aggressive against Aggie running back Jorvorskie Lane and the Fran's offense. (LINK)
With no passing offense, opponents have stacked the run and shot Fran's game plan down in flames.
This game may get ugly!
Let's speculate for a moment. If Fran can somehow win the next two games, he just may garner a cheap, second-tier bowl berth, bring in bowl cash, please his boss, "Dollar" Bill Byrne, and save his job. It's possible! ...but not probable.
Covers.com has installed the Tigers as a 191/2-point favorite.
The Houston Chronicle reported Thursday that the recruits who have verbally committed to Fran's program have been left in the lurch. (LINK)
The only certainty -- if anything is certain -- is that Fran looks like a Lame Duck.
