Entry Link :: 5 Comments What would BG do? How do you guys think we would've fared this year if we still had that coach we used to have? The Big 12 is a lot tougher this year it seems. Even with losing Acie do you think we could've competed for the title? Still been a top ten team? I don't know. I'm going to take the high road and say we would've been better but not necessary equal to last year. Acie was a leader on this team, and now it seems like there is no leader. Also, there is no real PG and Acie was that too. There's a lot of talent though. How would we have done (probably better to evaluate this after march but, oh well) Entry Link :: 4 Comments The Pick?

Entry Link :: 1 Comment Don't forget the women! Great win for the men in Waco. While savoring the win and looking ahead to the Jayhawks, let's not forget that Gary Blair's 17th ranked women are looking to avenge their only loss in the last 10 games Thursday night at Reed. While most fans were suffering in front of the TV last Saturday, my wife and I watched the Lady Ags blow out the 8th ranked Lady Bears. The women have played with tremendous hustle and heart... to pathetically small crowds. I understand that many fans aren't as interested in women's sports, and I don't pretend that the level of play is close... but the seniors who put TAMU back on the women's bb map deserve support for their last home game. We'll be at both games at Reed this week. How about you?

Exciting New Football Team in Texas All true Texas Football fans, there is a new Professional football league starting this April that will feature former college standouts from all over Texas. Click "Read More" for the rest... Your Penn State primer, straight from Happy Valley Howdy, we had a nice post from one your own on our message board giving us the low down on the Texas Aggies, and I thought it would be sporting of me to do the same. The Team: The disappointing 8-4 Penn State Nittany Lions are similar to the disappointing 9-3 Penn State Nittany Lions you may remember from 1999, although this team is not as talented, nor as disappointing. Offense: We are lead by the inconsistent Anthony Morelli, who has shown signs of absolute brilliance, followed by catastrophic stupidity. Pick Sixes and Fumbles have been the norm this year, but from time to time, Penn State has shown flashes of being a very good, if not excellent offensive football team. PSU has been been very bad from time to time as well. Depth at receiver is a strength, although most everyone agrees that as a group the recievers have under performed this season. Derrick Williams is the speedster; Deon Butler and Jordan Norwood both have tremendous hands. The running game and offensive line are underrated strengths; Rodney Kinlaw rushed for over 1,000 yards this season, but was supplanted by red-shirt freshman Evan Royster until he turned an ankle against Temple in the second to last game of the season. Defense: Dan Connor is the best linebacker in the country, there is no debate. He will have 20 tackles against A&M, win lose or draw. Sean Lee is the best linebacker in the country you never heard of, he will be a Butkus Award candidate next season. The problem with the defense is injuries and discipline issues have severly limited the defensive depth, which became an issue late in the season. Penn State has lost three players on the defensive line, and another two in the secondary, and the players that remain are nicked up. Cornerback Justin King was considered a top NFL prospect at the beginning of the season, but rumors abound that he is hurt and cannot run as well as normally can. Penn State has great team speed and discipline (on the field at least) on defense, so the option does not concern me. However, due to the lack of depth on the Defensive Line Javorski Lane does. The School: You'll know we're there, PSU travels well, and we will likely sell all of our tickets. Recently, however, our tradition has been more a crutch; we spend a lot of time talking about how good we used to be. Our fans will probably (hopefully) be pretty laid back. Those of us who are making the trip to San Antonio, of which I am one, are really pretty excited about the trip. The Verdict: Nobody does bowl games like Joe Paterno, so count on Penn State being ready to play. PSU usually improves from the last game of the season to the bowl, which is demonstrated by PSU's 8-2 record in its last 10 bowl trips. The key to the game from Penn State's prospective is the play of Anthony Morelli, if he plays well, and he is capable of being very good, Penn State is a tough team to beat. Our best win of the year was the decimation of Wisconsin in October. However, if Morelli falters, and he very well may, Penn State is pretty average (see the disaster in East Lansing against Michigan State). The month off is going to help Penn State a lot. Your interesting statistic, believe it or not,Penn State has never lost a game in the State of Texas.
See you in San Antonio, good luck. Entry Link :: 1 Comment To those who wanted Jeff Tedford Were you been paying attention to how Cal has finished year? After barely escaping Oregon, and flirting with the top of the rankings, Tedford's team has lost 6 out of 7 to finish the season with a sub-Fran 6-6 record. This includes losing to Washington two weaks ago an ugly loss to Stanford tonight. I don't actually think this makes Tedford a bad coach. But I really didn't understand him being touted as a big score hire for the Ags, esp. since he has no recruiting experience in Texas AFAIK. Entry Link :: 1 Comment Fran Run Out of Town Did you see the interview with fran after the t.u. beatdown? I was laughing my ass off. It's so obvious he's gone. Just the way he answered his questions. It's too early for a youtube video, but it'll probably come up in the next couple of days. When asked, "how much do you care about your players?" fran shrugged his shoulders, said, "I don't know", shrugged again, and then said with a lack of care, "A lot". Immediately afterward, the tv announcers guessed that based on that interview alone, he's gone. It's official. FRAN IS GONE!!!!!!!!!! good game BTW Aggie Basketball As a first year Aggie (Grad Student) and Tulane Alum it is nice to finally have a school that wins at sports. The Aggie basketball team should do pretty well this year, they have quite a bit of talent, a good coach, and pretty good fans. I say pretty good because it is obvious that this school is not yet a basketball school. We are getting there and the fans are starting to get up and cheer and keep cheering, but it just isn't quite there yet. But saying that, however, does not take away how VERY impressed I was at the end game with how the fans stayed in it. UTEP called timeouts after every Aggie score for about 30 seconds after the 2 minute mark to try to kill momentum, and take the fans out of it, but we didn't bite. We stayed standing and cheering. On a basketball note: We HAVE to learn how to create on offense. We spent almost all game against UTEP jacking up outside shots and three's that weren't open. We need someone on our team who is a threat to penetrate (and then does it) and big men who can consistently post up and score off of it. I think Deandre will get there as the big guy. I think Derrick Roland can be the penetrator we need. He came up big at the end of the game with some nice layups. What November Momentum? Texas A&M football coach Dennis Franchione's record is dismal. Again it looks like a total washout for November! Click "Read More" for the rest...
